Three Saints

St Paul, St Bartholomew and St Pancras

These photos were taken on an afternoon visit to the City of London. They start with views of St Paul’s Cathedral and nearby Paternoster Square (see aerial view, right) which has been redeveloped to include Temple Bar, one of the original gateways of London, which had been mouldering in the wilds of Hertfordshire for decades.

A short walk to the North West leads to Smithfield and the famous St Bartholomew’s Hospital, close to which can be found the ancient church of St Bartholomew the Great, which survived the great fire of London in 1666.

On our way home, we stopped off at St Pancras International railway station, to marvel at the magnificent Victorian glass roof, which has been recently restored along with the station being redeveloped as a terminus for Eurostar trains to the continent.
